Johnny Thompson was born in Ft.Worth, Texas and raised in the South. His father was an avid Elvis fan and exposed Johnny to Elvis at an early age. Johnny grew up listening to Elvis and watching his movies. Having been from the South really adds a exciting and realistic authenticity to Johnny's recreation of Elvis on stage.

Johnny grew up singing gospel music at church since a young child and was always told he sounded like Elvis by his mother. "She would tell me to try not to sound so much like Elvis when I was leading singing at Church. I told her, Mom, I'm just singing"!

Johnny studied acting for many years in high school and was a Theater Major at College of Dupage in Glen Ellyn, IL. After college, Johnny was discovered by a modeling agent and was put in TV commercials and in catalogues and worked steadily as a male model and actor for many years. He worked with Claudia Schiffer, Halle Berry, Alan Thicke and James Belushi just to name a few. Johnny has starred in the "Almost Elvis" and "The Men who would be King"documentaries and recently played Elvis in a TV series on Sci Fi Channel called " The Chronicle". Recently Johnny co-starred on "Get Golf" with John Ohurley ( J. Peterman on Seinfeld) on USA Network.

Johnny began his Elvis Impersonation career by working for a singing telegram agency in Chicago for several years. That lead to performing at House of Blues Chicago and for the Chicago Bulls. Eventually working with other impersonators and bands has lead Johnny to be one of the Premiere Elvis Tribute Artist in the World Today! He is considered by his peers to have the best moves and strong looks. Johnny holds Black Belts in four martial arts , two are 3rd Degree. In 1997 Johnny was nominated into the Martial arts Hall of Fame by Grandmaster John Pelligrini. Johnny has won many national and local Elvis competitions beating out many veteran Elvis performers. He has the whole package. Johnny is in high demand all of the country starring in shows for the NBA, and Minor and Major League Baseball teams and Casinos, as well as tradeshows, corporate events and conventions.

Greg Thompson of Greg Thompson Productions (GTP), the worlds largest show producer with shows in Las Vegas, Reno, Biloxi Ms, on Broadway, Valley Forge-Pa., considers Johnny to be the "World's Top Elvis Impersonator". Johnny was cast by GTP to play Elvis in The Wolfman Jack Rock-n-Roll Review in Tunica, Ms,. GTP has recently produced another show around Johnny's Elvis Impersonation called "Greased Lightning" that opened in Canyonville, Oregon in May 2001 and again in Biloxi, MS in 2003. In 2003 Johnny wrote and starred in a show for Greg Thompson called "Elvis, Elvis, Elvis" that was produced at Seven Feathers Casino,Oregon.

Johnny now makes Las Vegas his home but still tours and performs in concerts nationwide.
